The Company

Many of the inventions that have changed our world happened because it was their time to happen. Others come “out of left field,” the result of a series of unforseeable influences and events, pieces of a puzzle that come together at a certain point in time independent of and often contrary to the technology mainstream.

New Sapience is a deep tech, “Zero-to-One” company, an AI company founded and run by rocket scientists.

“Of course, it’s easier to copy a model than to make something new..."

“Doing what we already know how to do takes the world from 1 to n, adding more of something familiar. But every time we create something new, we go from 0 to 1. The act of creation is singular, as is the moment of creation, the result is something fresh and strange.”

New Sapience is a product company and a platform company. We have four potential revenue streams: B2C products, B2B products, developer platforms (where we will earn royalties from anything made), and corporate platforms.

Our Team

We are consummate entrepreneurs and technologists with many decades of experience envisioning unprecedented new technologies, turning that technology into practical products and applications, and building companies on those products that scaled to IPO or acquisition by public companies.

Bryant Cruse

Founder & CEO

Bio

Bryant graduated from St. John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland, well-known for its unique Liberal Arts program, providing him with the fertile ground for a life-long interest in how humans know what they know (epistemology). After graduation, he served on active duty as a Naval Aviator, and then earned a graduate degree in Space Systems Engineering from Johns Hopkins University.

Continuing his career, Bryant has been a pioneer in applying advanced automation software technology to solve difficult real-world problems. At NASA he developed the first application of AI technology for spacecraft operations for the yet-to-be-launched Hubble Telescope and was funded by NASA for a residency in AI (MS equivalent) at the Lockheed AI center. He then went on to found two successful high-tech software automation companies, which were acquired by public corporations. New Sapience, founded in 2014, is his third technology company.

Education: BA, St. John’s College. MS, Johns Hopkins University. MS (equivalent), Lockheed Artificial Intelligence Center.

Thomas Loveland

Chief Administrative Officer

Bio

Tom has been intrigued by artificial intelligence and the nature of knowledge since his teens. In 2015, a friend introduced him to New Sapience and its unique epistemological approach to the challenge of achieving artificial general intelligence. Immediately recognizing an elegant, potentially world-changing solution, Tom readily invested attention, time and money to help bring New Sapience to the world.

Tom leads a data and software consultancy that helps regional and national brands solve complex business technology challenges and empower humans to deliver more value to their organizations and the world.

Education: University of Washington, Honors College;  St. John’s College (Annapolis, Maryland), University of Chicago.

William Bandy, PhD

Chief IP Officer

Bio

Bill worked at DARPA in the mid-80’s, a time when advances in computing gave impetus to a new branch of computer science: Artificial Intelligence. He became hooked on the promise of AI, and it wasn’t until he met Bryant Cruse, the founder of New Sapience and perhaps the first “computational epistemologist” did he think that promise could be realized. Bill, a New Sapience investor and advisor, understood right away that Bryant’s breakthrough cognitive core model has the capacity to dramatically change the AI landscape forever.

After a 30-year government career with NSA and DARPA, Bill co-founded Matrics Technology Systems, Inc., for the development and production of low-cost, high-performance Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag technology and products.  Matrics was bought by Symbol Technologies, Inc. in 2004 for $230M. His name appears on well over 100 patents.

BS, University of Oklahoma. MS, University of Oklahoma. Ph.D., University of Maryland.

William Readdy

Chief Partnerships Officer

Bio

Bill is a veteran pilot astronaut with three space flights. He has logged over 672 hours in space. He served NASA in many  roles including NASA Director of Operations, Star City, Russia; Stafford Task Force; and the first manager of Space Shuttle Program Development charged with upgrading the Space Shuttle. Readdy served as Associate Administrator, NASA HQ Office of Space Flight with oversight for the Marshall, Kennedy, Stennis and Johnson Space Centers as well as programmatic oversight for the International Space Station, Space Shuttle, Space Communications and Space Launch Vehicles.

He also served as Commanding Officer, Naval Reserve, Naval Space Command where he selected Bryant Cruse to be his Executive Officer.

BS, Aerospace Engineering, U.S. Naval Academy. Distinguished Graduate, U.S. Naval Test Pilot School

Karsten Huneycutt

Chief Software Architect

Bio

Karsten began his collaboration with Bryant Cruse a few years after graduation from Duke University with dual majors in Computer Science and Russian in May 2001. His exceptional programming talents combined with his deep understanding of multiple computer and natural human languages make him uniquely suited to be the company’s Chief Software Architect.

Prior to beginning full-time employment with New Sapience, he worked in the IT departments, first at Duke and then the University of North Carolina. At the latter, he designed and implemented the next generation of provisioning and de-provisioning systems, a campus wide single sign-on identity management application, and many other aspects of the university IT infrastructure.

Karsten is a co-author of the company’s core patent, the designer and programmer of the MIKOS Synthetic Knowledge processing engine, and the MICA language which it interprets.

Jeffrey Rozman

Epistemological Engineer

Bio

JR was introduced to New Sapience by a friend and fellow AGI enthusiast in 2020. With a robust professional history in systems development, and fueled by an unwavering enthusiasm for the potential of New Sapience’s approach, he has played an integral role within the modeling team since 2023.

JR holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture with a minor in Philosophy from the University of Minnesota, a testament to his diverse intellectual pursuits, and the foundation of his appreciation for the philosophical intricacies that have shaped the development of New Sapience technology.

Ayush Prakash

Director of Communications

Bio

Ayush holds a BA in Philosophy from Toronto Metropolitan University. From when he was young, his obsession with artificial intelligence and robots took hold. Enjoying characters such as R2D2 from Star Wars or Baymax from Big Hero 6, bringing these unique synthetic entities to life was always a dream of his. This dream is now being realized at New Sapience.

After publishing his book, AI for Gen Z: Data to Stop Disruption, in his third year of university, Prakash started a podcast aimed at distilling expert knowledge into accessible pieces for his generation — one which, he believes, has the attention span of a tweet. It was this podcast venture that connected him with Bryant Cruse, and New Sapience.

Falcon Rising

Epistemological Engineer

Bio

Falcon has a formal background in mechanical engineering and computer science and is self-taught in electrical engineering. He first attended what is now Northwoods Technical College graduating in 2007 in mechanical design, and later graduated Summa Cum Laude in Computer Science at Rasmussen University in 2017.

Falcon also does personal development coaching and has a big interest in psychology, as well as how people think and view the world. There is an interesting synergy between this side of his life and AI.

Hobbies are traveling, combat robotics, 3D printing and 3D modelling. His interests are in robotics and AI, and their impact on humanity.

Falcon learned about New Sapience in 2019 through a friend and immediately knew it was something different than anything else he had seen before, and reached out to Bryant in 2020 and has worked with him in various roles since.
